Warriors and SCC Divide a DH

West Burlington, IA -- After winning the first game 6-2, it looked halfway through game two that Indian Hills may sweep a conference doubleheader with Southeastern CC on Wednesday.  The Warriors led the second contest 5-1 after 3 1/2 innings, but SCC exploded for six runs in the bottom of the 4th and went on to gain a split with a 7-6 win over the Warriors.

Kendle Schieber not only got the pitching victory in the first game for IHCC, but it was her grand slam home run that was the big hit in a five-run 3rd inning that the Warriors rode to the game one win.

Schieber struck out nine and allowed eight hits in notching her 10th win of the season.  She and Kaylyn DeCock each had two hits for IHCC and Olivia Starcevich scored twice.

The Warriors scored a run in the 1st, three in the 2nd and another run in the 4th in the second game and took the 5-1 lead into the home half of the 4th.  The six-run rally by SCC put them on top 7-5 and Indian Hills could only get one run back the final three innings.

Hiliary Pennington and Kaitlyn Matzen had two-hit games for the Warriors, who outhit SCC 9-6.  Matzen had a solo homer, her 11th of the season.

Indian Hills ends the regular season with a doubleheader against Iowa Western in Ottumwa on Thursday.  The Warriors will host the Region 11 postseason tournament at Hellyer Field this Saturday and Sunday.  Action starts at 10:00 on Saturday morning.
