Hudson to Play at Missouri Valley

Ottumwa -- Recent Indian Hills graduate Carrie Hudson is headed to Missouri Valley College to continue her education and softball career.  Hudson signed a letter-of-intent with the school that is located in Marshall, Mo.

Hudson, a two-year starter at third base for Indian Hills, came to IHCC after a decorated career at Kirksville HS in Kirksville, Mo.  She hit .259 in two years at Indian Hills with three HRs and 34 RBIs.  She was an Academic All-Region selection this past year.

A two-time all-state player in high school, Hudson was also named to the all-district, all-conference and all-region teams her junior and senior seasons and she set the Missouri State High School Activities Association record for most RBIs in a single season with 44 her junior campaign.  She was also named all-conference, all-district and all-sectional in track in high school.

The Missouri Valley softball team is coached by Daniel Allen and qualified for the conference postseason tournament this spring.

Beaver, Holmes Have Standout Seasons for IWC

Ottumwa -- Two former Indian Hills softball players completed their careers at Iowa Wesleyan College by being named All-Americans and playing in the national tournament.

Outfielder Tory Beaver and pitcher Sonja Holmes, both seniors, were selected to the USCAA All-American team and helped lead Iowa Wesleyan to the USCAA National Championships.

Beaver posted a .457 batting average during the regular season with four homers, eight doubles, three triples and a robust .734 slugging percentage.  She was also named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.

Holmes was the top pitcher for the Tigers, compiling an 8-4 record with four shutouts.

As freshmen at Indian Hills, Beaver and Holmes played on the 2010 Indian Hills team that qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah.

In their first season in the USCAA, Iowa Wesleyan finished fourth in the national tourney, splitting four games there.
