All-Region Honors for Six IHCC Players

OTTUMWA --- Indian Hills Community College had two players on the first team and four more on the second team on the All-Region 11 softball squads.

The first-team choices from IHCC were sophomore catcher Cortney Wood and freshman outfielder Hiliary Pennington. On the second team were two sophomores – pitcher Hannah Washburn and outfielder Jenna Wolfe – and a pair of freshmen – first baseman Kaitlyn Matzen and designated player Paige Blom.

It was the second straight year on the All-Region team for both Wood and Washburn.  Both were first-team picks last year.

Wood and Pennington both started all 62 games the Warriors played this spring. Wood led the team in the power numbers with 18 doubles, six homers, 45 RBIs and a .540 slugging percentage.

Pennington had the best batting average at .379 and also paced IHCC in at bats (214), runs (44), hits (81), triples (3) and stolen bases (16).
