Haight Named Assistant Coach at IHCC

Ottumwa -- A former Indian Hills player who was instrumental in the 2010 team's run to the national tournament has been hired as an assistant coach.  Brandi Haight, a two-year starter for the Warriors, joins the IHCC staff as an assistant under head coach Jim Overturf.

Haight, who pitched and played outfield for Indian Hills, won three postseason starts for the last IHCC team to qualify for the national tourney in 2010.  She defeated Southeastern and Muscatine in the Region 11 tourney, then beat Crowder (Mo.) in the District tournament.

She was also named an Academic All-American after her sophomore campaign.

Coach Overturf is excited to have Haight involved again with Indian Hills softball, saying, "Brandi will be a great addition to our program.  She is very energetic and ready to take on the challenges of coaching."

Haight graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Ia. this past spring.  She was an outfielder on the Kohawks softball team, appearing in all but two games over two seasons.

"Brandi will be a great help with our pitchers and outfielders," said Overturf.  "It will be great to have a quality person like her on my staff."

Haight began her new duties as assistant coach in mid-July.  She will also be a building supervisor and intramurals coordinator at IHCC.

Her younger sister, MacKenzie, is a member of the 2012 recruiting class and will be joining the IHCC softball program this fall.
