Des Moines, IA -- In its best offensive day of the spring, Indian Hills rapped out 23 hits and scored 18 runs in taking two games from Iowa Central CC on Monday, winning 10-2 in five innings and 8-7.
The second game featured an IHCC comeback with the Warriors plating two runs in the bottom of the 7th to pull out the victory. Iowa Central had grabbed the lead by scoring six times in the 6th inning, but the Warriors fought back with two runs in the 6th and the tying and game-winning runs in the final inning.
Felisha Durflinger had a homer in that game, her eighth of the season, and was one of six IHCC players with two hits. Kendle Schieber drove in four runs with a two-run single and a two-run double.
Megan Brady picked up her first win of the spring. She got the last two outs in the top of the 7th and then was the beneficiary when the Warriors won it in the bottom of the inning.
Schieber went the distance in the five-inning opener and she had plenty of offensive support. Kaylyn Decock doubled and homered and Kaitlyn Matzen also went deep for IHCC. They combined to drive in seven runs and Matzen scored three times.
The Warriors were to open conference play on the road at Muscatine CC on Tuesday.
