Council Bluffs, IA -- League-leading Iowa Western took both games of a doubleheader with Indian Hills on Saturday, winning 6-0 and 8-5.
The Warriors only managed three hits in the opener, a single and a double by Carrie Hudson and a single by Kendle Schieber. Schieber was IHCC's starting pitcher and she shut out the Reivers through the first four innings, before IWCC got two runs in the 5th and added four more in the next inning.
The Warriors were more productive offensively in the nightcap, outhitting Iowa Western 12-8, but a 7th-inning rally came up short.
Kaylyn DeCock, Kaitlyn Matzen and Schieber all had doubles and Matzen added a triple to the IHCC attack. DeCock had four RBIs and Hiliary Pennington scored two runs. Five different Warriors had two-hit games.
Indian Hills used three pitchers with starter Courtney Collins taking the loss.
